Add Magic to Your Business: Meet Scott Andrews

Q: Why are you involved with Awaken?

A: I met Jim Wardlaw last year at an event in Park City, where I provided some entertainment for the group. He saw my work and the chance to leverage my skillset with the objectives for Awaken, as my background is a mix of magic, finance, and business. We recently connected at a mastermind group Jim is a member of and he approached me afterward about using magic with business.

Q: What is the nature of your presentation?

A: My presentation is very much rooted in creating the illusion of the impossible and giving people the experience that’s hard to have in other areas. I’ll provide a bit of infotainment that’s highly interactive and experiential. My talk is designed to help managers and leaders learn to become better listeners and better question askers. I blend a lot of magic into what I do, and as I’ve become more experienced, I’ve researched things that make magic possible – psychology, sociology, hypnosis – all parts of the human psyche. It’s a fun line between magic and reality, and I hope that people walk away with an experience that’s unique and memorable.

Q: In your opinion, why is organizational culture important?

A: Companies, much like ships, need robust navigation systems to reach their intended destinations. Culture, defined in my mind as “the collective behaviors and beliefs that motivate decisions across all levels of employees,” functions as that compass and is VITAL to ensuring that the ‘ship’ successfully navigates the complexities of modern business. If your culture isn’t intentionally monitored and/or corrected, then you are at the mercy of the winds and shouldn’t be surprised if you passively float into nebulous waters.

Q: What are you looking forward to at this year’s Awaken conference?

A: Beyond just getting to know some amazing people from around the country, business leaders, and great minds, maybe imparting some mystery into people’s lives. The more information and connection available to us, the less mystery there is to the world. I’m looking forward to bringing smiles to people’s faces. I’m going to find a lot of value from the other lectures as well and the available resources.

Q: Attendees will be learning a great deal from you and other presenters at Awaken 2020. What specifically do you hope to learn?

A: I believe that everyone possesses, at minimum, a kernel of truth, knowledge, and expertise that will help me live a more purposeful existence and lead a more impactful business. Judging by the lineup of speakers, I’m confident that Awaken 2020 will boast a much higher concentration of these insightful people than I’m typically exposed to. I look forward to absorbing as much as I can!
